Dean Keith was an electrical engineer who worked at the large manufacturing plant, Western Electric, in my hometown, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. In 1971, he left his job and started his own electronics repair shop. Dean quickly developed a reputation for being the go-to guy when your stereo was having problems, or you wanted to buy good quality used equipment. By the mid 70s he was was traveling all over the Midwest as a repairman who specialized in repair and installation of radio station DJ consoles and equipment. It was during this time that he developed his own formula for a record cleaning solution. He sold his gallon jugs to radio stations and used record stores. By chance, I was able to contact his wife, Dimple, who happily shared Dean’s formula for his cleaner. We spoke on the phone a few times, and she was surprised to learn vinyl records are making a comeback. With her permission, Dimple is allowing me to mix and sell, Dean’s Ultra-Groove once again. This is a very basic formula without harsh modern chemicals. It works exactly like it’s supposed to work. It cleans and protects vinyl records.
